Ingredients
Instructions
- Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs, then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. A few lumps are fine, so don’t overmix.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with butter or nonstick spray.
- Pour batter onto the iron, about 1/2 cup per waffle depending on size. Close the lid and cook until golden brown and crisp, about 4 to 5 minutes.
- Serve right away with maple syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or nut butter.
Notes
-
Yield is approximately 6 waffles, depending on the waffle iron. Cook time allows about 5 minutes per waffle, cooked one at a time; an iron that cooks multiple waffles at once will take less time.
-
For extra crispy waffles, rest them on a wire rack instead of stacking them.
-
When making a big batch, keep them warm in a 200°F oven.
-
To freeze, cool completely, freeze in a single layer, then move to a freezer bag. Reheat in a toaster or oven.
